Dive Buddy

Child safety standards.

Dive Buddy is an app for certified divers aged 18 and over who are planning liveaboard trips. We follow strict safety standards, including a strict policy against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). We do not tolerate it in any form, and we act on every report.

Age requirement

Dive Buddy is for divers aged 18 or over. Divers confirm they are 18 or over when they create an account. We remove any account we find to belong to someone under 18.

Dive Buddy is for divers who are old enough to travel without a legal guardian. Divers found through the app go on to meet in person and travel together on liveaboard trips.

Verified divers only

Matching, messaging and meeting another diver all require a diver to submit their certification agency, number and level for review first. This is a barrier to anonymous and fake accounts.

Reporting

Any diver can report a profile or a message from inside the app. The reasons offered include underage users, adult content, harassment and safety concerns.

A person reviews every report. Reports are private, and the reported diver is never told who reported them.

Blocking

Any diver can block another diver instantly. Blocking hides that diver from discovery and stops all contact between the two accounts. The blocked diver is never told.

Action we take

We remove accounts that break these standards. Where content or conduct involves child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE), we remove the account and report it to the relevant authorities.
